Some thoughts on the effects of the new Jedi system

OK. I do not intend this to be a rant nor a whine. If you take it that
way it's your problem, not mine.

I have been thinking about this new Jedi system for a while now and
something has been bugging me about it.

Any of you who were around for the early days of Ultima Online are
going to understand what I am about to say because much the same
things happened there that are about to happen in this game.

When the new Jedi system rolls out and we have hundreds of Jedi's
coming off the assembly line daily youo watch what is going to start
going on.

Those of us that are not so inclined to be a Jedi will become their
fodder as the new ranking system kicks into full swing.

That is if we do anything like farming faction points.... or just do
some GCW work. The instant we get a TEF we are going to be ganked by
some waiting Jedi who can throw his lightsabre 100M and kill us with
one or two hits! They will HAVE to do this to gain points for the
ranking system.

And I think it is going to have a two fold effect.

1> The galactic Civil War is going to come to a screeching halt when
people realize that Jedi's are camping the areas that people go to to
farm up some FP.

2> People are not going to engage in PvP because the Jedi Vultures
will be standing on the sidelines ready to swoop in and kill
everything for the Jedi Points!

It's going to end up like UO where you are forced to engage in PvP
play whether you want to or not. That's the way these developers have
wanted this game since day one and that is, by God, the way they are
going to make it!!!

I play on test center. I tried the new Jedi during the testing. I got
bored fast. To me, Jedi isn't worth it. The same will be true of many
other people. There are other fun ways to play. Right now, I'm doing
creature handler and swordsman. Who needs jedi?

In the end, many will get bored or frustrated with Jedi, then go back to
playing normal characters.

Boy, that means 3 publishes (a lot of time and developer effort) were
practically wasted. SOE is doing Sisyphus job.

Excellent reference! You get an A+!
Particularly appropriate when you consider that all jedi is is one big
grind. Grind out the xp to get to the top and then grind out your PvP
points to get further ahead. No real story to it, no missions that i'm
aware of. I'll probably unlock the fs and just create a support character.
I hated the holo grind, which is why the devs say they changed jedi but jedi
is still a grind?
They really don't seem all that bright sometimes.

As I said in a lower post... What cheaper way to run a game.... When
the players ARE the content youo don't need to hire innovative
developers with enough imagination to create a storyline.

PvP games are the cheapest to maintain and operate in the entire
online game genere`!!

Yes, many will get camped, but many people will go back to the random
missions. With the number of player cities and faction mission terminals it
will be difficult for Jedi to camp all of them. Hell, evading Jedi campers
may become a fun game in itself!
