I've read alot about these chipsets but the only differences I've found are the gx has integrated graphics and is a amped up version of the 780g. Also the 790fx supports full crossfire at 16x, while the 790gx supports crossfire at 8x I'm interested in the 790GX because it has the integrated graphics and I can always just upgrade when needed. The 790fx is suppose to be superior... but how? I don't plan to go crossfire at all. But do plan to buy an x2 vid card. Would the 790gx perform lesser than the 790fx if you had systems with identical parts? eg. both systems have the same cpu, ram, and x2 vid card (nocrossfire).

You seem to know most of the pros and cons of each board already, so you almost answered your own question on your own. Anyway, what you should look for in either board is the SB750, which allows for better overclocking.

If you don't plan on crossfiring then you probably won't be reaping all the benefits that the 790FX has to offer, so it may be worth it for you to get a GX and save the difference to get a Deneb CPU later on. These are the two boards that I'd consider:

BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX A2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

DFI LP DK 790FXB-M2RSH AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

Note: Be sure to get DDR2 1066 memory, you never know if Deneb will benefit from it.

So the 790fx is mainly for a crossfire setup? and the 790gx boards will have full 16x support for a single 4870x2 card? How about cpu performance? I'm planing to go Phenom 9950 Black Edition. Would perform any differnt between the two chipsets?

There should be no noticeable difference then if you're not planning to use crossfire, however I would advice against getting a 9950BE with Deneb so close to release, it's shaping up to be a lot more than just a die shrink. If I were you I'd get a cheap dual core for now and get deneb once it's released.

And to answer your question, yes the 790GX will have full bandwidth if you use a single card, and no there aren't any CPU performance differences.

Need suggestion in picking a Processor
By Pro Llama, 5 hours ago:

The i7 920 runs about $290 in US, so I'm guessing that you either are not in the US or need that $400 for more then just the cpu. So a PII 955 c3 is $160 on newegg.com, can get a good asus board for $110ish, and 4gb of ddr3 for $105ish. Total would be around $375. There are also boards in the $60 range that are good but dont have as many features. You can try an i5 setup, but it will push you past your $400 limit.
