Im currently running a cheapo 550 watt ATX powersupply on my system.

Specs are:

e4600, 2 gigs of ram, and a hd3850.

Usual 2 HDD and one DVD drive.

I will be upgrading to a hd4850 and want to know if this PSU will be ok?

Also will I see a performance increase when installing this new PSU?

For your setup a 450-500 W quality PSU will do (Corsair, Antec, PC&C etc.). This PSUs are much better than Hyper so I suggest to buy one of those. Do not go cheap on the PSU because it is one of the most important PC components.

...just to say a few.

Check this out to see which manufacturer is better for you in terms of product availability and pricing:

You can't go wrong with any of hallowed_dragon's suggestions, although that PCP&C model seems overpriced to me..

No, a PSU upgrade will not give you a performance increase.

SO that is now sorted, just want to check about this card: Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 Dual Slot.

no when it says dual slot what exactly does this mean, I only have a single PCi-e slot availible.

My Mobo is AS rock d667, anyone know if this will fit ok?

Here is a list of 80 plus certified PSU's

You will see that the PCPower PSU of equal power is now often lower in price than many of the other brands.

PCPower is the gold standard of PSU's.

Dual slot just means that the card takes up one slot space and the cooler for it takes up another. It doesn't actually use 2 PCI-e slots, electrically, it just takes up 2 physical spaces.

When you buy a PC Power & Cooling PSU you get the best.
Worth every cent.
