I've heard great things about nvidias new cards so i dont know which to get...
Currently i have an e8400, giga x38 ds6 mb, 4 gigs ocz, and a 3870x2, XP
What i need to know which will i get more performance getting a second 3870x2 and having 4 gpu's, or getting a single new better card?

Older games get such high fps it doesn't matter.

A 3870x2 performs about the same as 4870. But in quad cf it'll be a lot slower than 4870x2 due to quad scaling issues.

What res do you play on?

If u play on more than 1900x1200 ish, u'd better get a new card. Otherwise, u shouldn't actually... The 3870X2 has a lot of the 4870 sweetness (cept being 1gpu solution, 1Gb per card and gddr5, lol) and it should keep you in game IMO.

Unless you *really* suffer on your current gaming experience, IMO, don't upgrade yet.

Esop!

The 3870 X2 is known to scale better in quad than the GX2 in quad, but with driver updates, it seems their are both doing fine. Although you'll still get the odd games here and there.

Thats why I fell in love with call of duty 4:D double the frames almost with quad:D. Woot.

well

tbh it depends at what resolution you play at... as Yuka said... even at 1920 by 1200 i wouldn't upgrade... atleast not for now... that should be supplyiing adequate gaming performance... my 4870 does everything... including crysis at that res.... and since the 3870 x2 is about equal to it... theres no point in upgrading.... unless you just like having a monster machine... that also uses 30 % more power than it needs :kaola:

take two 4870 make in CF and nothing will stand close to that.. even for price.. 540 $ and only one 280 costs about 600 $ but in performance CF 4870 will easely beat 280

280 GTXs are 400$ now:S lol. And if your going to spend 540$ your better off getting The 4870 X2 since there are some out for around that price or slightly more.

Atleast with the 4870 X2 you have more RAm and single slot.

You need to put more logic into choices. And remember that 4870 CF is about 30% faster than 1 280 GTX, and your paying around 140$ more so you gotta balance a little more.

Your better off suggesting 4850 CF, since it would cost 400 or less, and perform better than the 280 GTX:)

now that would be a smart choice:)
