Hello,

I recently built a new system just so I can have something to use in my room. Installed everything right drivers were fine and working well. After a few hours of usage I started seeing lines on my screen after that my internet got disconnected and a blue screen flashed for a quick second before it restarted. Opened speed fan and Temperatures were System: 10C CPU: 28-30C Core:30C Core0: 62C Ambient: 40-50C.
I thought my video card was broken but when I put it on my dell dimension desktop it worked perfectly fine with no problems at all. Before I purchase anything else I thought I'd stop by here and see what really the problem is and what I should replace/fix.

Lines look like this:

Hey, a while back I had a problem with blue screens and it turned out it was acutally my ram, try running memtest86 for a while and if there are ANY errors, you have a problem.

thanks claytonian, I tried switching out rams I had a set on my other desktop that works and it is still doing the same thing. it's also weird when I go to bios, there are a few things I cant go into and change. I can't hit boot from cd, I cant change supervisor password and stuff like that.

Check for mobo update and flash ur bios, Do the lines only appear in gaming?

THINK I KNOW UR PROBLEM KNOW!!
Ur PSU isn't good enough and its an ANTEC.
Sorry but i hate ANTEC CRAP.
Buy a 650 W at least, the 8800 Standard require 400W, not including system power, an OC version surely chews more than 400W alone.
Leaving less than 150W for the system isn't quite enough.
So when ur graphics kick in ur system runs too low on power.

Recommend a Thermaltake, PC power & cooling, Coolermaster, etc.
Maybe even 850w then you can upgrade GFX cards later too!.

PSU is certainly another possibility, and a strong one. Could still be MB.

yeah that's really weird.. i mean it does it on the 8400gs too and that one is a piece of crap. I really dont think its the power supply but i'll try to borrow one of my friends psu.

The power supply really probably is the problem, I dont think that its a power shortage problem, I think there is something wrong with it. Cause if it still does it with the 8400, its not short on power. This is just a guess but it may also be a problem with your pcie slot, im not sure how to check that, but you might want to look into it

Hey guys, I fixed it, turns out my motherboard was defective, threw that bitch out and bought an ASUS SLI Ready, and another 8800gt.

Thanks a lot guys.
