Ok my friend just built a new system without doing proper research as in going to the store and buying what looked nice..
the sold him a gigabyte G31-s2l MoBo with a HD4870x2 grafix which i think shouldn't have happened..

his set up.

Q6600 @ 2.4ghz
G31-s2l
4gb ddr2 800
hd4870x2
750watt psu (dnt know the brand he wont let me open his pc :sarcastic: )

my set up is the same except i have a x38 with a ezcool 1200watt psu (incase i wanna xfire later)

ok my question is will he get really poor performance frm his 48070x2 with that MoBo or not?
just wanna get feed back from you all before i start benching his pc against mine.

Thank u for any replies and or suggestions u may provide :D

From the benches i've seen there will not be a big hit using the PCIe x16 1.0 with the 4870x2, but it will bottleneck it a bit. Here's a couple of articles that have more information.

I'd say the most limiting factor would be that he won't be able to oc that q6600 nearly as much as you can. 2.4ghz will be bottling the 4870x2, but you can probably still play all your games at great framerates, so I suppose it doesn't matter that much.
