Hey. i have an E2180 processor and a ms 7507 n1996 msi motherboard. I strongly believe this system is bottlenecking my gpu. its a NVIDIA gt 9600 XXX version. I want to over clock my processor for extreme gaming but isn’t shore what my limits are. I have stock cooling for my CPU. So I added 2 12" fans to the equation. What will my limits be for over clocking my processor with the fans if they will even have any affect.? I read an article that sad it is possible to over clock the E2180 to 3.3ghz per core. If this wont do it for me please tell my what I need to bay to get a system that runs fully without something bottlenecking the other.
Well it should overclock quite a bit with the stock cooler. Your processor is capable of 3-3.8ghz, but you will need a aftermarket cooler for that.
Use coretemp to monitor your temps while running prime95, this will tell you what your max temps are. Keep her under 65c and your good to go.
The 9600GT is pretty weak though, I wouldn't worry about overclocking much until you upgrade your video card.
Just Google E2180 overclock and you'll find all the info you need to do that.

if i deside to upgrade and get the XFX x58i with the intel LGA 1366 processor, 12gig ram and 3 more gt9600's. what sort of power supply should i get for this system?
Listen guys. I don’t want any other cards or something like that. I don’t mind if I waste my money and my electricity. It also doesn’t matter if it is a waste. This is what I want so ill get it. If you want some thing else that’s your problem. It’s your taste and your pc. I want this specific system because I like it. I don’t mind if it isn’t the best system or the cheapest, but then again, it’s my money. So let me "waste" it if I want to. Or give me a suggestion on some thing better.
