Hello,
when I am trying to open a new software for installation in my computer it was opened in MS word pad. how the problem rectified? I am using windows xp-service pack-2 version.

You probably opened a Read Me file. Look for the .exe setup or install file.

Thanks for your kind reply.
I tried to open one game file in word-pad on experimental basis , from now onwards all the game programs have been opened in word-pad document and I am unable to install new soft wares in my PC and the same also opened in word-pad. it is my problem.

Run the EXE file association fix from the link below.

Restart the computer-->top F8 repeatedly on startup-->boot into safe mode-->start-->all programs-->accessories-->system tools-->system restore-->choose a restore point before the problem started.
