hello. this is my first time posting in this section. so im just gonna get to the point.
i opened my case and i took down my PSU's model number. ( forgot why )
i looked it up on newegg and found it. newegg says it has a 24 pin connector as well
as all the other websites. but this is the weird part. only 20 pins are connected to my motherboard.
its not a 20 + 4 pin its SUPPOSE to be 24 but only 20 are connected. and there's no other +4 part of it.
why is this?

other question:
if i buy a PSU and it has a 20 + 4 main connection, so i HAVE to connect the + 4 part of it? or just
leave it like my previous PSU and only connect 20 and just leave the + 4 hanging. will this make a
difference?

What motherboard do you have? Is you computer homemade or pre-built by a major manufacturer? If you bought it pre-assembled and the motherboard only needed a 20 pin connection the +4 part may have been not included by your oem.

If you replace your PSU for some reason, and it has a 20+4PIN connector, you'll be fine. If your motherboard only needs 20 pins, you can just leave the +4 pins hanging. That's why they make it a 20+4 pin rather than a 24pin. :)

And if your motherboard only has a 20 pin connection socket, then don't worry about whether your PSU should have a 20+4, since you don't need the 4 extra pins.
