Hi Everyone, I think I'm confusing an issue here and I need some help sorting it out. It is easy to get confused so I'll explain it as simply as I can.
I have 2 monitors (Mon1 has DVI and VGA, Mon2 just has VGA) and 3 computers (all desktops. DT1 has DVI and VGA, DT2 and DT3 just has VGA)
I currently have dual screen set up on DT1 using DVI to Mon1 and VGA to Mon2. That's straight forward, a simply dual screen set up.
What I would like to achieve is to be able to switch between Dual screen on DT1 and having 2 individual computers which would mean, DT1 to Mon1 using DVI and DT2 or DT3 to Mon2 using VGA. I hope that makes sense to someone, that's the bit that is easily confused.
So can I use one KVM Switch to do this, does that allow to swich between dual screen and two seperate computers? How many keyboard would I need? and well, can anybody help, I'm really confused!
Another option i'm looking at is using synergy. If I have mon2 pluged into a 4 port vga switch with DT1, DT2 and DT3's vga. I could then run synergy on each machine?
The cable you mention seems to split the 1 VGA signal to appear on 2 monitors. What I need is the opposite, to have 1 Monitor displaying 2 different VGA signals, so a VGA switch, but would this facilitate for dual monitors as well?
Just use a 3 or 4 ports KVM, hooked at your VGA Mon2. Your DT1 will have dual monitor (one directly in your DVI Mon1, one through your VGA KVM switch to your Mon2), and your DT2 and DT3 will be available on your Mon2.
If you want convenient dual monitor support on all DT, you'll need a dual view KVM.
