Hey all, first poster but long time computer hardware reviewer reader. Well my pc build has been in the works for about a year now. Almost being able to buy it, then I lose my job, or I need a car first; all are among things that set me back.

But now, since I have been informed I am getting $900 for my 21st, I have more than enough to get my dream pc.

I wanted to post all of the parts here for you guys to give it a once-over to check for any discrepancies or compatibility issues between parts.

After doing my research on parts (research = extensive newegg browsing)

Here it is, please feel free to compliment, insult, or criticize but please read notes after:

Operating System - Vista Ultimate x64

CPU - Intel Q9550

- Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme BLACK Anniversary Edition
- w/ Scythe S-FLex F 120mm fan

Mobo - ASUS Rampage Formula X48

GPU - AMD Radeon HD4870x2

RAM - 2x2GB Mushkin REDLine ddr2 1000mhz

HDD 1 - Western Digital RaptorX 150Gb 10,000RPM,

HDD 2 - Western Digital Caviar 1Tb 5400RPM Green powered :)

Optical - Lite-on DVDRW

Sound - ASUS Xonar DX

PSU - Corsair 1000HX (1kw)

Case - Cooler Master Cosmos S

Note: I will be going crossfire but not at the time of purchase. Maybe with following paycheck.
Note: I already own the HDD's so dont warn against buying them.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • CPU: The Q9550 (2.83GHz) is 10$ more ....
  • RAM: Ditch the Dominator, just get good overclockable DDR2-800 like OCZ Reaper

Other than that, you got a very solid build.

I think the price recently dropped for the Q9550 (probably because NewEgg has the Q9650 now).
