Imapi service

Hello,
Imapi service will not stay "STARTED". NERO software is also installed. ALL cd writing functions work EXCEPT DATA, regardless of Imapi status. This is a recent change in functionality Running Windows XP, SP2 with a DVD RW drive.
Specifically, If I try to burn jpeg files using windows, I get an error message. If I try to burn jpeg images using NERO, the prompt says the burn was successful even though it failed. The two windows error codes are; (1)
C:\DOCUME~1\Phil\LOCALS~1Temp\WERa24edir00\imapi.exe.mdmp
(2) """"\appcompat.txt
Audio cd burning and all dvd burning work fine. HELP!!

After updating and retrying several times without success, I finally succeeded by writing to a blank CD. Could I have been re-corrupting the service every time I tried to add data to a CD that I had tried to write to when I was getting the ERROR messages, even though I had updated windows and restarted Nero?
