Unable to boot from CD

I'm am not sure if this is the correction section to post this question, but I shall anyways hopping a mod will move this thread if necessary.

Toshiba Tecra 9000
Windows 2000 Professorial edition

When I log into the computer using Administrator and no password it logs in then immediately logs out.
I have read that it is probably something to do with the drive being changed incorrectly.

So I am attempting to run knoppix from the cd drive.
For some reason though when I go to the bios and choose boot from cd I get no response even when I choose boot from hd.

Can anyone shed some light on this situation?
