hi all,
i've check arround the web, no reference for me so i try to post here.

my rig setting:
X6800@stock 2.93Ghz
GTX280@stock
Asus P5WDG2 WS PRO (975)
4X1G DDR2-800 5-5-5-15
(suppose can run in CL4, but different spec, so i test on CL5 first)
seagate 7200.10 320G X 2 @RAID 0 (onboard RAID)
Corsair 750W PSU
Driver: 177.83

all running at stock but my best 3dmark06 is only arround 128xx
(i'm ungrading from 8800GT which give me 109xx)
i don't expect only arround 2k 3dmark upgrade from 8800GT to GTX280 (it's different generation card and also 8800GT is middle range card but GTX280 is high performance)

is 128xx a bit low for my setting?

with quad core, it suppose to get arround 16K
even with dual core at similar speed (like 8400)
it should still get something's arround 14K...

dear all, any idea what's the problem?

It's very low. I get 15.5k on q6600 and 8800gts, default settings:

It could be driver problems. The hardware specs should work fine.

Besides total score, what about sm2.0 or sm3.0 scores? Total score is boosted by the cpu portion.

Are you running RAM:CPU in 1:1 FSB? Also, get them down to CL4, should help a little more.

Also, OC your X6800 to 3.4Ghz at least xP

Esop!

yes, i know, but i'm trying the get it done on everything at stock...
my friend didn't know oc and he with 8800GT SLi-680i-Q6600-DDR2800-cl4
everything running at stock and get arround 13xxx in 3d06...
also, my 109xx 3d06 marks is running at stock with 8800gt, really want to know the different (3d06) between 8800GT and GTX280. i don't believe it's only 2K different

Keep in mind that a quad gives a huge boost in 3dm06. So, anyone with a Q6600, all else being equal, will score significantly higher than you will.

cjl is right. my q6600 at 3.6ghz with my ram at 1:1 (so 800mhz, timings of 4 4 4 12) scores 5500 in the cpu benchmark. you should be getting at least 14k, if not more. have you tried getting driver cleaner (or a fresh install of windows) and reinstalling all your drivers?

if not, how old is the current install of windows and have you changed a lot of components without reinstalling (as in motherboard, etc)

I've never try driver cleaner, but i've try uninstall the nvidia driver by using it's add/remove program uninstaller...
btw, i've try different driver(177.41/83/92) and seems the 83 get the best (92 can't complete 3d06, stop at cpu test1)

my current install of windows also seems having some problem, but i'm not sure how big impact on it, i've planned to reinstall everything by weekend, but before i do that, i want to gather some information to see what exact score i suppose to get with this rig....

i've run 3d06 again with DDR2 running at 800 CL 4-4-4-15
SM 2.0 5777
SM 3.0 6658
CPU 2551
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=8068586
i was getting 128xx b4, why it's degrading?...

A friend of mine, with his 4850 and a Athlon64 X2 5000BE @ 3.2Ghz at 1440x900 ish, scores 12K+ on 3D Mark06 when he enables 4xAA and Aniso. Food for thought :P

Now, i really don't know why it's happening to you. Maybe a BIOS update could fix that. Check if there's any update related to new video cards or something. And that "15" on your RAM cycles kinda bothers me... Can u get it to 12 or 13?

Esop!

i'm setting it with according to the lower sets of RAM
my 4G is in 2 pair
1G X 2 OCZ 4-4-4-15
1G X 2 G-SKILL 4-4-4-12

according to my experience, for the last digi (15), no big performance different
(i was chasing major OC b4 in super PI and test that the last digi have no big different in 1 to 15)
