After 5 months of overclocking my P6T Deluxe v2, my motherboard died. The settings I used are below. Once 2 weeks earlier, the system crashed and I got an "Overclocking Error" on post. I lowered the BCLK to 175 and things seemed fine until it died. My system temps were consistently 45*C and the cpu temps were about 40*C with the ambient temps about 80*F. I had run Prime95, OCCT, IntelBurnTest and Memtest all without issue.
I now have my new P6T and am about to overclock it to the same settings and I don't want to be stupid about it. I don't see any issues with my settings, or temps that would cause the board to fail in 5 months. I'm just presuming bad hardware - but it is disconcerting.
Overclocked with these settings:
Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual
CPU Ratio Setting: 20.0
Intel SpeedStep Disabled
BCLK Frequency 180
PCIE Frequency 100
DRAM Frequency DDR3-1443 MHz
UCLK Frequency 2887 MHz
QPI Link Data Rate 6496 MT/s
DRAM Timing 8-8-8-24
CPU Voltage 1.1625
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage 1.2
DRAM Bus Voltage 1.6
All other settings Auto
Other thoughts:
My old system had the CoolerMaster v8. I wasn't happy with the mounting system and when I took the system apart, the place on the underside of the motherboard where the mounting bracket attached was rubbed down to what looked like copper. The new cpu fan is a Noctua NH-U12P SE2. Much better mounting in my opinion. Can't compare temps yet, but right now at stock temps my Motherboard is at 32*C and CPU is 28*C. Ambient is 60*C (it's FREEZING here in Idaho!)
