Whenever I install an operating system on my computer, e.g. Windows 7, near the beginning of the install (where you prepare your hard disks) The install will just sit for about 10 minutes, and the DVD drive stops blinking. It doesn't freeze, it just does nothing. Afterwards, though, it starts back up. But this isn't the case for OSx86 or Ubuntu, (or any distro for that matter) It just sits for hours and hours. In the case of OSX, it says "Still waiting for root device" (the disk drive) over and over and over and over. It does it for hours, and I just give up. The drive IS IDE, and I have 2 HDs on SATA. The drive is set to master on a single IDE cable (not cable select). Does anyone have any ideas?
