Is this heatsink safe to lap? Anyone had any experience with this heatsink? Is it even worth lapping? Or would adding a second fan be more beneficial than lapping?

Lapping heatpipe direct touch coolers is a bad idea. The metal of the heatpipe is already very thin. I've read about people trying to lap it and putting a hole in the heatpipe.

Yeah, I've heard that too...but not with this exact model. I heard the bottom of this heatsink is not very flat. What about a little bit of lapping? Does anyone have any experience with this particular heatsink?

I lapped my original Thermalright Ultra 120 and my cpu. The Thermalright 120 has the copper pipes inside a base so no problem. The only reason I did it was to see if an old fart like me could do it. Results were excellent.

Lapping exposed copper heatpipes is not a good idea. The pipes are constructed of very very thin copper.

Installing a second fan for a push-pull effect may or may not be worth it. Typically the temperature will drop less than one degree with a second heatsink fan. Results will vary depending on the configuration.
