Howdy all,

It's my first post on Tom's.

I am building a new system with the following specs:

Asus P6T Deluxe Palm edition
Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz
3x2GB of Corsair DDR3 1333Mhz
Asus EN8800 GTX 768MB Gfx Card (Currently have in my system)
1 TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 (Currently have in my system)

What do you think of the combo?

Will I be able to overclock it a tad?

Love this site!

Thanks.

seems good to me, if you really need a I7 and DDR3. Kinda over priced for the momment. Im not the kind of guy that alwais have the latest tech.

I think waiting a lil bit price cut in half and here we go, i BUY!

Welcome to the forums.
You may not get a lot of feedback yet, as not many people have i7 builds ....pretty much everyone is waiting to hear what people like you have to say after the build is done.
Be sure to give us some feedback after you are up and running.

From what I've seen, the 2.66ghz i7 runs about the same price as my Q9450, back when I bought it (august), which is also 2.66ghz. I have 1066mhz DDR2, and my Q9450 is overclocked, keeping its max multiplier of 8x, and upping the bus speed to 400mhz (stock is 333), giving me 3.2ghz. From the research I have done, in the synthetic benchmarks, the i7's beat the older ones, like the QX9770, by far, however the real benchmarks are a little different. The i7's seem to do alot better in every day tasks, while in games they seem to do exactly the same... So in the long run, they are better, and so far are the same price, but don't expect to see any improvement in games over the 2.66ghz Q9450 for your specific i7, except for maybe a few.
