I have done some research and put together a rig.. Let me know what you guys think, anything good or bad in it.

Here is what i got so far..

MOBO: Asus P5Q Pro - $140
CPU: Intel E8500 - $190
GPU: Visiontek 4870 - $285
RAM: Corsiar 4GB(2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 - $87
HD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB - $80
Case: CoolerMaster RC 690 - $80
PSU: OCZ GameXStream 600W - $90
DRIVE: Samsung 22x DVD Burner - $25

total of around $995 including shipping.

A few questions too

1) Is visiontek a good brand for the 4870?
2) Will 600W be enough to run this setup without a second GPU?
3) Will I be able to OC my proc to 4Ghz with stock cooler?
4) Should I change cpu to E8400?

please critique my build!

visiontek is excellent but if you want lower temps as of right now asus is the brand to get for fan speed control as the other ones don't have this feature
i would get a q6600 same price and OC nicely will pay off in the future but having the e8500 is great also
mushkin is the brand to buy now for ram exceptional customer service and performance without a doubt
get the wd6400aaks not the seagate... 140GB mor space and it's faster!
what else could you ask for

i would never oc with a stock cooler... buy the xigmatek hdt-s1823
Optional - ocz freeze *best TIM* and the retentionbracket - xigmatek ack-I7751 3rd best cpu cooler on the market and cheap

get the Corsair VX 650W corsair is the best when it comes to psu and pc & c is 2nd

other than that it is good

Thanks for the advice..

I think I will keep my ram and proc... I am planning to keep this rig for another 2 - 3 years. and by the time games utilize 4 cores as a standard I will be able to buy a faster and newer quad or maybe even 8 core proc by then. but for now the e8500 is newer and more desirable.

I changed the HD too, I'm not too picky about performance. I would rather have more space.

I am looking to purchase the parts mid september.. so I will keep my eyes open for price drops and new parts coming out.
