hey

im using a hd 4870

on CCC, with ati overdrive enabled, i can change the memory clock speeds, however, when i change the core mhz, it won't. it's locked at 500mhz, why? the auto tuning says it can go safely up to 780mhz, this is bottlenecking its performance. what's up with this?

Wow, I thought I was the only one who was having this problem. My memory and core clock stay at 507/514 and I have a HD 2900XT. I know it will clock 743/1000 no problem. But the ATI Overdrive will only run it at the slower clocks even though up above in the overdrive display it is set at 743/1000. I don't get it. Let me know if you find an answer. I would love to figure this one out myself. I've tried numerous tools like ATItool, Riva, Powerdrive etc..........with no success.

Post here if you find an answer.

DeadStar,

This may be of some help. Nobody can give a clear cut explanation as to why CCC automatically limits the card but I did find out that if you un-install the CCC suite (Leave only the Video card Driver) and run a third party software such as ATI Tray Tools (v.1.6.9.1340) it will allow you to clock your card to it's fullest potential as well as fan control directly on the card. As soon as I did this my card clocked 742.50/1026.00
