I have a home built PC: an Athlon 2800 processor, 2 gigs of 400 Mhz RAM, a MSI "diamond" MB, 3 hard drives( one SATA, two IDE)a CD_DVD drive , Win XP OS and a very frustrating problem. My system goes almost completely through the boot up and then informs me that my graphics are of very low quality (4 bit). It started when I wanted to print an email. It then tells me that it has found a PCI host bridge and reboots. When I can get the system to be stable and can view the device manager, it tellls me that I do not have enough resources to run the video card ( Nvidia 6200 series w/ 512 Mbytes of ram and the latest downloaded drivers). What is happening? Do I need to replace the MB? I had to add a LAN card to conncect to the internet. The on-board connection stopped working. The rebooting was random at first, but now seems constant. I attempted to "restore" when the colors went to hell, but that changed nothing. Please help.
