Laptop b/g wi-fi adapter work with n router

I have an "n" router at home and just bought a cheaper new laptop with an Atheros 80211.b/g Wi-Fi adapter. Will they work together without having to change settings on either? I have an n wireless adapter for a usb port. Will that work on a laptop with a Atheros 80211.b/g Wi-Fi adapter?

Only if the router is dual band as in 2.4 ghz for the "G" and 5.0 ghz for the "N" otherwise you will need to upgrade the network interface card in the laptop or use a usb/ pcmci card adapter or downgrade your router.
