I'm looking to overclock my core i7 920 to 3.0-3.5GHz, nothing too extreme for starters...I have an ASUS P6T mobo, 6GB of DDR3 PC-10666 (OZC3P1333LVGK), NZXT Tempest case and a Thermaltake V1 CPU cooler...I'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to overclocking (I have only done it once before). I know what I'm doing and how to set it all up, but I was just wondering if this fan can handle keeping my CPU cool enough once it is overclocked. I'm afraid it will run too hot. According to CoreTemp my CPU idles around 36 degrees C and I ran prime95 and found that at full load it never goes over 71 degrees C.

Is this cooler good enough for what I'm trying to do right now? Or should I get something better like the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer? Also, can anybody tell me what the approximate temps will be once I do this?

71 is not great. Yes, get an aftermarket cooler first. And thats a good cooler for the price.

Hey Mark, i want to overclock mine also but i really dont know what to do, anyway you could give me all the info for my BIOS settings?
rig info:
XCLIO GREATPOWER X14S8P4 850W
EVGA E758-TR 3-Way SLI LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX
G.SKILL 6GB SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB
Crossfire - HIS Radeon HD 4890 Turbo+

And i think 4890s are bottlenecking with the cpu, i just want to get the max potential without getting unstable. I would really like some help.

This is my fist build so I only know about the PT6 Deluxe MO.

Keep researching on the internet....
