what motherboard goes with q9550 cpu and a GeForce 9800 GTX+

Hi guys thanks for checking out my topic. I was given a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Yorkfield cpu and EVGA 512-P3-N873-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ video card. I am new at home built systems and I don't know what motherboard will go with those, let alone I am not sure which brands of boards are more reputable. I know the cpu socket is LGA 775 with a 1333Mhz FSB and the vid card is PCIe 2.0.

Any comments would be a great help, Thank You.

  1. Asus and Gigabyte are the best boards to get. As for Chipset If you want to go SLI you will have to get the nVidia 780/790 Chipset.

If you are not going to SLI get the Intel P45 Chipset, or the X48 Chipset If you ever want to Crossfire.

One of the best things to do is go to Newegg and read the reviews of the motherboard you are looking for.

  2. Agreed, except about Newegg reviews. I do read them, but you have to estimate the level of experience from the context of the review. There are a lot of Newegg reviewers that don't have a clue.
  3. True, How true. But most of them will be good reviews. If a Item has a high rating, its a good part, Some people will complain about the color of the PCB, or the little space in a mini tower.

I like that Newegg lists that "This person purchased from Newegg". Some people will leave compaints for a item they dont even own.

Here is a list of boards to look at:

    ASUS P5Q Deluxe
    ASUS P5E Deluxe
    ASUS P5N-D
    ASUS P5N72-T Premium
    ASUS P5E
    EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1

and the list goes on and on and on.......

  4. Thanks a lot 1haplo and zorg, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out.
