I've got a MSI P6N Diamond with a Q6600 (G0) and 8GB of ram. This motherboard is absolutely crap cause it won't allow me to overclock it one bit without becoming unstable...

Originally I was planning to go SLI, but that's no longer part of the plan so want to replace it with a good, but not too expensive P35/45 board... Since I'll probably build a completely new PC with a Core i7 next year I'm looking for anything too fancy now...

I was thinking ASUS or Gigabyte. Can anybody help?

Congratulations, you now know one of the many reasons why everyone shies away from bout MSI and nVidia based motherboards ;)

Defiantly go for an ASUS or Gigabyte P45 based board.
The ASUS P5Q Pro is a good option and it is currently $99.99 after MIR at the egg.
There are several comparable Gigabyte boards in the same price range.
Any of them will treat you much better than your P6N Diamond.

Almost anything from Gigabyte, or Asus will do quite well. I make it a point to NEVER BUY MSI, it's just asking for trouble. Even ECS, Foxconn, ASRock, and DFI are better choices.
