Hey guys.
I have some problems w/ my memory when i overclock my system.
Here's what I have.

CPU - E6550 2.33ghz @ 3.2ghz(oc'd) w/ Zalman 9700 LED
Motherboard - EVGA 650i Ultra
Memory - Crucial Ballistix 1GB x 2 (2GB) 4-4-4-12 @ 2.0v

I just bought Zalman 9700 and installed it and im rele happy about it. 1.35v vCore and only 40~50' on full load.
ok. here's my problem. I was running Prime95 and it stopped within a min bc of hardware failure. I thought i didnt feed enough voltage to my CPU, but i did a torture test w/o any memory use and i was fine for an hour and i still have it on. so no failures w/o memory use. so i figured out tht it could be my rams are causing the problem and ran a memtest for 7 hours. I got like 160 errors. WTF?
wut do u guys think about this? its def my ram problem?
would it make any change if i change the slots?
what should i do?

Check to make sure that your is properly recognized by bios. If you have to then manually set the timings. Run memtest again. If your still having problems test each stick individually.

i found wut was wrong w/ it. it was the voltage. from the website it says it can go up to 2.0v, but it was keep getting errors at tht voltage. When i tried 1.8~1.9v, it didnt get any errors. Also, I ran Prime95 for 7 hours and got no failures or anything. I think im good to go.

You never even mention what speed your running the ram at. Dont ya think thats important??
If your overclocking your fsb, your overclocking your ram too.

If you have to undervolt your ram to NOT get errors, your ram is bad, RMA it and get something else.

I had Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 running at 866 and all 4 sticks fried within a month. I threw them in my drawer and got some Corsair XMS and ran it at 900 for a year without a single problem. I'm still using that ram in my new computer.

I will never buy Crucial Ballistix crap again.

I checked the clock of the ram and it didnt change at all. I looked at CPUz and it's still 400MHz. also, i dont think there's anything wrong w/ my ram thts really gonna risk my overclock. i mean i dont have to put more voltage to make it stable so why should i? nothing wrong w/ the prime test.ill probably run memtest or goldmem if i have time.

On the other hand, I have been running Crucial RAM in OC'd quad core systems (Q6600 and Q9550) since I built them and mine have run flawlessly.

Crucial ram or Crucial Ballistix??? I've purchased hundreds of Crucial Micron modules for customers laptops with no issues. However Ballistix is junk.

I have 4 sticks of Ballistix in my drawer now. All 4 have been RMA'd at different times. 2 of them have been RMA'd twice. I will not put it back in MY computer.

Ballistix. One set is in a Q6600 system running at 3.6 GHz (400 Mhz X 9), so it is running right at DDR2-800 speeds at 4-4-4-12 timings. The other set is in a Q9550 system also running at 3.6 GHz (425 MHz X 8.5), a smidge above DDR2-800 speeds, also at 4-4-4-12 timings.

After I had bought them, I had heard of people who'd had problems with them. So I was watching pretty closely. Maybe the fact that I have them in Gigabyte motherboards is relevant. Or I am not overclocking them. Don't know. All I can say is that they have worked great for me.

Clearly a case of YMMV. :)
