Hi guys, was wondering, but can a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme fit in my MSI 790FX mobo? I've heard some people say that due to the plastic backplate of the mobo, the air cooling can't be installed, is that true? Also, will it accomadate my Corsair Dominator Ram? Thanks!

Solution
Well the Ultra 120 sits 1.75'' above the top of the ram slot. Now on my Gigabyte 790FX, I have two RAM slots not even under the cooler.

This might help you a lot...

Whether the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme will fit depends on your pc case rather than the motherboard. The case should be at least 8 inches wide.

The Corsair Dominator memory sticks have extra tall heatspreaders that sort of look like a comb. Those extra tall heatspreaders will interfere the large tower style cpu heatsinks. :(

It will go onto the motherboard fine. You just remove the stock AM3 mounting bracket, and the plastic plate on the back will come off.

When you buy the Ultra 120 be sure to buy a new METAL backplate.

I'll get you the dimensions of how high it sits in a bit here, let me get a ruler...
