Inspiron 6000 w/ Windows XP Acting Very Strange

My laptop was always running smoothly and a few weeks ago it suddenly started messing up left and right. I get a System 32 error message and then a few minutes later I lose internet connection and have to restart to get it back. When this happens, I checked the IP address and it says 0.0.0.0. Also, when I use google, more often than not I get redirected to random websites. I've scanned my computer countless times with so many different programs and even though it did find some trojans, I deleted them and nothing has changed. This is so stressful. I really don't want to have to reformat and it seems like it's my only option. Please help.

Click Start>Run>CMD> and enter SFC /scannnow

Have your XP CD in the drive, it'll need it.

Then you understand that to format a drive is to wipe it out of all data? How would you reinstall Windows?

My cousin has the cd somewhere. He has reformatted laptops I've had for me many times.
