Hi i work at a company and my computer has a brother hl-2400 installed it crapped out and quit working i downloaded the brother uninstall tool to get rid of the drivers and i hit uninstall and it doesnt unstill them....also when i go to the printer UI in windows and right click and delete the printer is just stuck at deleting the icon is also tranparant almost as if its a temporary????? any suggestion or ways to manaully delete the driver files
Also, to remove the drivers without their tool:
1) open printers
2) file->server properties
3) Select driver, delte
However, the printer must be dleeted from all user profiles before this will work (at least if its network based, not sure about local printers). Kinda a catch-22 if you can't delete it.
its actually my boss's computer im going to wait for him to get done and try these suggestions but i was wondering is there a place where windows stores all the installed drivers mayber somewhere in system 32??
Check this key in the registry for installed printers. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers AND
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Connections
Deleting the sub keys matching your printer will make it go away.
