hi!
i've got a 3yr old dual core opteron 175 @ 2.63ghz on air using the stock heatsink.
the ******thing is as loud as a jet taking off which is irritating since i have to use my pc for almost 24 hrs a day!! even after i have underclocked to my default stock 2.2ghz it is equally loud.temperatures are normal though.
i need to know what would be the most silent air based cooling solution for my cpu.

The cpu heatsinks in the charts on the right hand side of the page are the low noise heatsinks.

You can use the embedded search feature to find information about heatsinks for specific cpu sockets.
