Open for all advice, not really committed to anything right now. Will primarily be using the system for games and some graphic design work. Would like to keep the price at 1200 or less

Toss in an aftermarket heatsink, Xigma Rifle would be perfect, cheap, and much better then the stock one. then you can OC your Q6600 fairly safely to 3gz at least

It looks good to me. This is very close to the build I wanted to make. Let me know how that mobo goes for you, I may still get one for a secondary computer.
I'm too lazy to add up the price, but if I were you, and if you haven't already I would seriously look at some of the 45nm processors like the Q9300, its only 70-90 more than the 6600 and sweet.

As for RAM. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&Subcategory=147&Description=&Type=&N=2010000147&srchInDesc=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&Manufactory=1666&Manufactory=1459&Manufactory=1550&Manufactory=1455&PropertyCodeValue=521%3A8080&PropertyCodeValue=523%3A15794&PropertyCodeValue=524%3A16064
anything from that page will do you well.
