I have just installed a q6700 into my Abit - AW9D board.

Have overclocked just a little to 3.2

But coretemp, real temp and speedfan only show temperatures for 2 cores

Im running vista 64 is this possibly something to do with it?

I have seen other screen shots showing 4 cores displayed

Any ideas?

If you had a dual core before this one and did not reinstall Windows, delete all cpu in device manager and reboot.

I have tried this.

I noticed vista had 2 E6700 and 2 Q6700 installed so i booted into safe mode removed them and restarted but it hasnt made and difference other than device manager now shows 4 Q6700's.

What CPU cooler are you using? What is your cpu cooler setting(if variable)?

I have seen this happen when i was evaluating the right (minimum) setting for my ZALMAN CPU cooler. There are times that the BIOS detects only 2 cores (2 count) when I restart the PC.

It went away when i got the CPU cooler settings right.

Please detail your hardware to get better recommendations from this forum.

Did you purchase an OEM CPU or BOXED CPU?

hope it helps

why is this an issue? the other two cores will be within 5c of the others? my two are off by about 70c from the actual temp
