It doesn't sound like money is an issue, so I would go with:

Intel Q9450
ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBPI
Video Card: HD4870x2

Bubinho give us a budget.... and is this budget to include monitor/keyboard/mouse ?

Also.. Define Multimedia a bit.. Watching movies, Blue ray, music... what specifically are you going to use this machine for?

Budget is 1500 - 2000 €. all in 24" monitor and pheripherials. multimedia is movies and music, blue ray i dont need yet, a lightscribe dvd burner and decent, and most important, configurabile 5.1 audio device with lots of goodies like cables and connectors for ins and outs, firewire, bluetooth. maybe i would like to have a two graphic cards or is it a waste of money? do i need to change xp to vista? power supply? and of course this will be a pc for gaming

My First piece of advice with a big budget would be to wait for Intel to release Nehalem... (core i7)

=======================================

OMG huge budget... here is a killer machine, add a monitor:
Sub Total
$2,265.40 Canadian

1 x Asus - P5Q3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP @n w/ DualDDR3 1600, 7.1 Audio, Dual GB Lan, WiFi-AP @n, 1394, PCI-E x16 CrossFireX ( $234.95 )

1 x ANTEC - Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case ( $109.95 ) Can choose any case you want really.

1 x Intel Core2 Quad Processor Q9550 2.83GHz w/ 12MB Cache
( $369.95 )

1 x OCZ - 4GB PC3-16000 Platinum Edition Dual Channel DDR3 Kit (2 x 2GB) ( $499.95 )

2 x SEAGATE - 500GB Barracuda 7200.11 SATA II w/ NCQ, 32MB Cache ( $149.90 )

2 x LG - Super Multi Security DVD Writer 20x20x12x, SATA w/ Lightscribe, Black (OEM) ( $65.90 )

1 x Scythe - YD-8V08 Floppy + 18-in1 Card Reader Combo Drive, Black ( $34.95 )

1 x PC Power & Cooling - Silencer 750 Quad Power Supply, Crossfire Edition ( $159.95 )

2 x SAPPHIRE - Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDTV-Out, HDMI ( $639.90 )

Add $400 Canadian and get yourself a killer 24" monitor

Could go for a 4870x2 instead of two single cards... Or get really crazy and get two 4870 x2.

If your overclocking get an aftermarket heatsink.
