System restore

My system restore has not worked for quite some time. When I create a restore point, it tells me it is successfully created but when I run the restore. I get an error message indicating the system could not be restored to that point. I have tried various types of restore as well as ranges of time and have not been able to restore to any of them. The concern initial concern is after installing Norton Utilities, I am getting start up errors for files that do not exist so I needed to restore back prior to the Norton Installation but can't. Any ideas?

Try doing the restore from safe mode.

Have you tried just removing Norton?
