I'm looking at mobo's and I was wondering if the ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard was any good? I am either going to go with the Q6600 or E8400, which would you pick? Also, can someone link me to some good RAM that is affordable for that MOBO? I am not getting ATI cards so the Crossfire isn't really necessary (getting GTX 260 core 216 Superclocked no SLI)

I'm gonna suggest this one, but it's out of stock, must have happened overnight, I ordered one yesterday.

The p5Q pro is a rock solid board. You can get an E8400 with a higher clock speed for cheaper but the ocing ability of the q6600 is much greater and with that mobo you HAVE to overclock

Oh forgot to say, the board recommended by chuckm is lush. Its the one I got. Its on a par with the P5Q Pro but form my experience people seem to prefer the gigabyte one

Since you're using a Nvidia card and aren't interested in either crossfire or SLI then a single socket P45 would be fine for you. Here's 2 that both run under $100 after rebates.

I like the Gigabyte board, but either would be a fine choice.
For RAM go with quality 2x2 GB DDR2 800 1.8v at $54 it's a great choice.

Go with the E8400 unless you do a lot of video editing. At stock clocks the E8400 will perform much better then the Q6600 in games and most applications.

I've used 4 gigabyte p45 mobos in the last 2-3 months and i really adore them. never had a problem with any of these babies (both the ds3r and ud3p) so i recommend the gigabyte board without saying that the asus is inferior in any way.
