I'm currently looking for a decent motherboard that can handle 16x crossfire or SLI video cards. I won't be buying two video cards right away, but want the option to add one later on if needed. I recently got a 4Gig(2x2) DDR2-800 ram pair ($15AR). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227269 and 600W P/S http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017

I've seen this board - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P - on Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128358 but am not sure if having only 1 16x and 1 8x slot would be a problem if I decide to go SLI. Any recommendations on CPUs? I'd like to be able to overclock, but that isn't a deciding factor.

I'm planning on getting at least an NVIDIA 9800XXX card or better.

I realize that buying a PS/RAM before MB/CPU is a bit backwards, but I got such a good deal on these, I can use them in a system for my wife if needed.

Any advice is appreciated

You cannot SLI on that board stettin. You should be able to go Crossfire though. Dont worry about the board not being able to run 16x,16x. NOTHING even makes full use of 8x right now.

Ok, I realize this is a MB forum, but are there any advantages to Crossfire over SLI (performance)? I've been out of the hardware scene since 2006 or so. I'll ask over there if needed.
