Pc restarted when inserting dvd

i had a problem with my DVD drive, when i try to insert an empty for writing r dvd's
with movies for viewing system get freezed & restated within few seconds.. it works
fine most of the time. it occurs 2 r 3 times in a week..

Please provide your complete system specifications. If this is a PC, please include the brand and model of your Power Supply.

its in my pc
intel 945 core 2 duo2.6 ghz
2 Gb ram
160 gb Hdd
xp sp3

Standard "AA" cells don't provide enough current for that! You need "D" cells at least, or a higher-current chemistry like NiMh.

Edit: If by "It's in my PC," you mean you have not felt able to check the PSU (e.g. if opening the case voids a warrantee), then provide the full model name/number of the PC; an online reference will detail what's inside.
The 945 chipset is sufficiently old that any number of things could have happened to this machine. Google "bad capacitors" for what I'd consider a prime suspect this early in the investigation.

i have checked with one of Technician who says that PSu is fine.. may problem with DVD writer..
is it so.
