Are you a crazy overclocker? What cpu are you looking to overclock? If you don't overclock, I don't see how it will make a difference. x38 is pretty much the x48 but the x48 supports higher fsb out of the box natively.

over at xtremesystems, i have seen reports that users have found it hard to go pass 500fsb on the dk x38 (i was reading b/c i have this board). I'm not entirely sure about the x48.

Maybe you should take a read at the other forum to look for answers about the x48 version if you really want to check it out.

Also, the DK verions are the lower end of DFI's offerings, resulting in a soldered BIOS chip and less voltage regulators (this is also a reason why people buy the UT and LT versions instead of the DK).

I looked at both: the DFI DK X38-T2R supports 1 PCIe 2.0 slot, the DK X48-T2RSB Plus has 2 PCIe 2.0 (each at 16 electrical). If you want to run two separate video cards in crossfire, you need the DK X48-T2RSB Plus. I just put one together, and am in the hardware testing phase.

I don't think this is necessarily true.

Both the x38 and x48 support two pci-e 2.0 slots at full x16 speeds. I don't know where you got that the x38 supports only 1 PCIe 2.0 slot.

Please do your research! Both X38 and X48 NB's support two PCIe 2.0 slots at x16.

The X48 has *official* support for 1600 FSB. (Basically, the X48's are higher binned X38's)

You can reach X48 speeds with the X38 by overclocking.

DFI DK X48-T2RBS Plus is waaaaay better max FSB around 560-570FSB for mine http://i4memory.com/f80/dfi-lanparty-dk-x48-t2rbs-plus-... with same cpu on DFI LT X38-T2R, DFI UT P35-T2R and DFI UT X48-T3RS only managed around 510-515fsb

Go DK X48-T2RSB Plus if you need the FSB!
