Hi,

I am building a quad core gaming system.
I want to know which processor would be an ideal choice for it.

Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 or Intel core 2 quad 9300 ?

Thanks in advance

I would chose the Q9300 because it uses alot less power but the Q6600 can be oced alot higher.

Personally, I would do the Q9300 if they were priced identically.

I see the Q9300 @ $249 over at Newegg.com

The Q6600 @ $189.99 at Newegg.com.

Got both prices through www.pricegrabber.com (site that compiles prices at multiple sites and shows you who is cheapest).

Those benchmark links don't seem to show to huge of a difference in stock speed ratings. The question is, how much is $60 worth to you? If you've got cash pouring out of your pockets, go for the Q9300. If you'd rather save the money for something else (video card upgrade maybe) I'd get the Q6600.

The link to the OC'd benchmark results even show the Q6600 above the Q9300 in a couple particular games. So the $60 may not really net you much in truth.
