I'm going to put 64 bit vista on here and I'd like to go ahead and up the ram as well.
If I go up to 4 gigs of ram the 2 options I've looked at are:
The 2 x 1 GB G. Skill you are using runs at near 900MHz. at 4-4-4-12 2.1v on my ASUS P5B Deluxe. I added a second 2 x 1 GB kit and loosend the timings to 5-5-5-12 leaving the data transfer rate and voltage the same. Then I removed 2 x 1 GB and added a 2 x 2 GB kit of this to the remaining 2 x 1 GB kit making 6 GB total:
Now I have bought a second G. Skill 2 x 2 GB kit and will add it to the exisiting 4 GB kit to make 8 GB total system memory .
I was astonished when the original 2 x 1 GB kit you have ran at 900MHz. 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v. The G. Skill memory you have listed, both the 2 gig kit and the 4 gig kit work great in my ASUS P5B Deluxe. I would call it a match made in heaven, which is a subject we will likely not be discusssing much for the next four years.
