I HAVE BEEN USING MY DVD BURN DRIVE NOW FOR THE LAST MONTH, NEVER USED IT TILL NOW. WAS WORKING GREAT. TRIED TO BURN A CD-R FOR A FRIEND, DISC I HAD WASNT BIG ENOUGH, SO HAD TO QUIT BURNING IT. WHEN I WENT LATER TO TRY TO BURN A DVD-R WHICH I HAVE BEEN DOING FINE. AS SOON AS THE TS FILES WRITE AND ITS READY TO BURN TO DISC, IT SAYS PLEASE INSERT A BLANK DISC, DISC IN DRIVE IS FULL. BUT BWHEN I INSERT THE DISC IN DRIVE IT READS IT AND SAYS BLANK DISC. I TRIED TO FLASH THE DRIVE USING PV7UWIN AND PV8DWIN WHICH BOTH FLASHED OK IT SAID. BUT NOTHING CHANGED. MY PRIMARY ATI DRIVER SAYS DMA IF AVAILABLE AND DMA MODE 5. THEN I SAW ANOTHER UPDATE FROM LITE-ON CALLED PSOC. WHEN I TRIED TO FLASH THAT UPDATE IT READS .... INCORRECT DRIVE, 4-0-0-0 E:LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S PV8DWIN DRIVE DETECTED .... GEEEEEZ I HAVE SEEN TONS OF PEOPLE ASKING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM AS I WITH NO AVAIL. POSTINGS WAY BACK IN 2007 WITH SAME PROBLEMS. IS THERE AN ACTUAL FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM OR IS IT STILL AN UNKOWN PROBLEM AND EVERYONE GAVE UP? I THINK IT SOUNDS LIKE A ROOT KEY OR REG KEY HAS BEEN CHANGED? AND OVER-RIDES PROPER PROCEDURES? ANY HELP PLEASE FRUSTRATED, CANT FLASH PSOC NOW SINCE IT SAYS I NO LONGER HAVE A 160P6S, BUT NOW A 160P6S PV8DWIN. QUICKLY BALDING, PLEASE PLEASE HELP.

I WAS USING A PROGRAM CALL SOTHINK TO BURN THE DISCS . . .

Does that software burning program have a tab labeled "Continue Multisession Disk"?

This might not help but, it won't hurt to try.

Shut it down and remove the disc from the drive. Boot up. Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>
Disk Management. Change the drive letter on the DVD-RW. Shutdown. Boot up. Use explorer to make sure the drive letter has changed. Insert a retail software disc of some sort. If you can read the disc in Explorer try burning something.

Also try shutting down and disconnecting the drive. Boot up. Shut down. Reconnect the drive. Boot up and see what happens.
