Any time I try to over volt my x3 720 on an ASUS m4a78te I get an error when starting windows. I have tried to under clock and everything. I do have an aftermarket cooler. Please help

Open CPU-Z (or download it if you dont have it) and let us know what voltage is it reading at 3.3Ghz. 3.3Ghz is a 500mhz increase from stock speed, meaning you should not need more than 1.34/1.35v to operate at that speed. You should be able to at least get that CPU to 3.5Ghz with a voltage of 1.36/1.37v. Of course the voltage varies depending on board but you should not crash just by raising the voltage a bit.

well telling us some specs would be helpful. Is it stable on stock settings. And why are you trying to over volt it, are you over clocking or just trying to make it stable?

The name of the thread says it all......

Please post spec's as virus suggested.....

Antec 900
Sunbeam Core Contact
phenom ii x3 720 BE
xfx 4870 1gb
Asus m4a78t-e
750 watt psu (can't remember brand but it is a 80% effieciency psu)

I am overclocking my CPU, currently it is running stable @ 3.3 ghz but i want to up that. Anytime I increase the voltage in the BIOS windows doesnt start. I have tried to underclock the CPU and have higher voltage and combonations of things, but every time it crashes on start up. The question I am asking is am i not volting it correctly or is my mother board faulty

What voltage are you using for 3.3Ghz?

Check the manufactures rated voltage. Running at MoBo default voltage settings may not be enough for them to run properly.

May not help your problem, but it doesn't cost anything to check it out.

on cpu-z it says 1.3 volts, i know how much it would take to get to 3.6 (desired speed) but every time i increase my voltage, windows doesn`t start up.
That was the purpose Of this thread
