How to remove files from wd passport essential

Can I remove/delete all the files from WD My passport essential?

I newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

If with "all files" you refer to the folders and other files that had when you bought, this files have the driver for the autorun and installation of the disk when you connect this to a PC.

When I got my 320 GB WD Passport, I just copied all the files to a PC and reformatted the Passport to NTFS, then copied the original files back to a folder on the Passport. I haven't had any problems.

You can delete filed from WD Passport by simply maing sure your external hard drive is coonected, go to start menu and double click computer. Rigth click on Passport drive and click on format. Format My Passport will pop up and below that place a check next to the quick format option. Click Start on the bottom and another screen will pop up sayin, "WARNING, Formatting will erase all data on this disk. Hit OK and your done. nice and simple. You can now verify by right clicking on Passport drive again and going to properties. It will show you that all the space on the drive is free. Hope this helps!!!
