I just got a 8800gt but when i restart it takes about 5 minutes and gives me the error cmos checksum bad error, but than it lets me press f2 and get into windows. It does it every time i restart and if it doesnt take 5 minutes it will take longer. Its a brand new card I just got it today, and i tested the slot with a 8600 gt and it works flawlessly. Comp Specs: Phenom 8450, Biostar 720 MB, 320 gb WD, 2gbs of Crucial memory, and a 600 watt Rosewill Powersupply. Ive tried taking out chips of memory but to no avail, Does any1 have any suggestions?
If it is the 8800gt that is causing the problem ,, return it,, do not fool with it,do it immediately !!!....And make damn certain that the Rosewill PSU can supply the voltage needed to run the 8800gt,that might be the cause, you should never buy any psu that does not clearly show on the casing it's power input and output and total wattage,,and see if you can find a review of your selected psu BEFORE you purchase one......
The Powersupply does work, I read a review on Newegg of a guy saying he was running dual 8800gts with no problems. So Im concluding its my videocard, but Im going to test it on one of my friends computers tomorrow to see if it does the same thing.
Roswell PSUs aren't too good, but they aren't too bad either. A 600W unit should be fine, unless it's a bad unit in which case you'd probably be having other problems with the system as well. If you're getting a bad checksum error then it's definitely the card. Return that card right now, don't read this anymore, turn off that PC and RMA that card NOW!!!!
