My graphicscard, a X1950 pro, can't handle the games (due damage)
I play anymore, so I've decided to look for a new graphicscard. Sort of games I play are:
Crysis, Command and Conquer, Half Life 2 & episodes and Anno 1701.
I'm playing most of the time at 1280 x 1024 and likely all things high, AA 4x or more and AF around 8-16 ( depends if the game isnt turned into a photo show ). My budget is around the 100 euros, I've read already the article 'Best videocards for the money', but they didnt benched the games I play. You may think that my X1950 pro should be strong enough but it is defect/damaged somehow ( burned transistor ). My computer spefications are:
-Amd Athlon X2 6000+
-2gb Kingston ( 1+1 )
-160gb harddisk from Samsung
-650 watt ?Antec?
-Asus M2N-MX ( I hate it )
-2 dvd players
-Dlink wireless pci card
yeah i think a 4850 might be suitable for your res, maybe even overkill
i don't know how much 100euros can get you, but an 8800gt might be your best bet if you can't afford a 4850
Keep in mind I don't live in America, the Netherlands to be exact. For example (from pc shop where I usually buy components ) a 8800GT costs 129,00, or the 4850 costs 160,30. Thanks for the replies !
Try looking into a HD3870 then or a 9600GT. At your resolution the 9600GSO might not be a bad idea. Seen benchmarks for the new HD4670 that look promising, but it's not out yet and may cost a premium when initially released. I hope one of these can work for your budget.
Edit, So far from the reviews I've seen the 4670 has a comfortable lead over the 9600GSO on nearly all games (till you crank up the Res).(forget about the other low end cards)

I can't buy components at American Websites ( the dont ship to Europe ).
The 4670 looks very interesting, good preformance and good priced (79 euros or 109.979 USD.). 1024x768 are acceptable resolutions, I dont really care playing on 1600 x 1200 or 1024 x 768.
