Hey guys,

Last night i got into tweaking my memory timings. My mem is Crucial Ballistix 4GB 4-4-4-12 @ 800 mhz standard.

Since 800 mhz gives me 1:1 ratio with my 400FSB i just left if that way and concentrate my efforts into tweaking my timings.

I ended up with 4-3-3-6 @ 800 mhz. Everything Stable. Memtest86+ 2.1 test passed and 6 hours of Prime95 memory tests no errors .

I didn't pushed it further yet, quite happy with the timings i ended up with.

What do you think of these timings and is are my memory modules exceptionnals or quite standard.

Also my mem is running at 2.2 V. This was the standard for these modules about 6 months ago, I know that the newer Ballistix modules are rated at 2.0 V.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Sadly I just puchased this memory and have been running it at 356mhz FSB 4-4-4-12 at 2.0V. If I push it up to 400mhz I get errors across all applications in windows. I just read the RAM overclocking article too. wtfcrucial?

hey just a question for you, how is that ram? im looking to upgrade my RAM, is the performance on those better with the 4-3-3-6? and was it easy to get that? i see that its running stable which is nice.

Bah, it's more a thing of "lower numbers are better".. i get a 16500 points in 3dmark06 instead of 16450... lol

I ran Everest and i had slightly better latency and reading times. So i just did it because the memory can take it. (Latency is 50.6 ns instead of 51.2...lol)

Take into account that not all modules are the same and you can get some Ballistix that wont go any further than their original specs.

thats very true, its interesting with those specs, was there a noticable difference in speed overall? or was it a too small to tell kinda deals?

I just bought the 2x2gb Ballistix. It won't run at 4-4-4-12 at 2.0v (fails Memtest86 in ~20 minutes). But it passed 6 passes of Memtest86 at 4-3-4-10 (I read the article) at 2.1v.

I don't know if my power supply (earthwatts 500) is screwy or what. My 2x1gb ballistix were also funny about voltage. They won't run at the rated 2.2v, but work at 1.9v just fine.

I'm starting to think my powersupply is off, but I dunno.

I've got a q6000 OC'd to 3.3ghtz. My FSB is 367, so my ram is running at 734 mhz.

Nice, I'm gonna try that with mine. And yeah...OC'ing is a sickness. Lower timings makes my inner nerd happy...that's all that counts :bounce:

Hey, i didn't had time in the past weeks to test it more but i'm sure i can squeeze some more out of these sticks. They are pretty amazing.

I don't think your power supply has anything to do with it though. Motherboard controls the power going to your Ram.
