What's the difference? And which one's better?

I see that the first one is 3.1 ghz and the other is 3.0 ghz. But the 3.1 is cheaper?? What's going on here?

One has 1MB L2 cache one has 2x1MB L2 cache. In other words the 3.0 Ghz one has twice the L2 cache. Prolly will be faster then the 3.1 Mhz chip

The 3.1ghz one is 65nm, while the other is 90nm. It will be slightly better at overclocking because it will run cooler.

Ahh, good I asked. About how much faster will the 3.0 ghz one be?

in some apps one will be faster and vice versa. For video, photosop get the one with more cache, for games the one with faster clock

Thanks, that helps. Yeah mostly for web browsing / gaming.

^^ No way. Purchase the one with 1mbx2 L2 and OC it to 3.2ghz. Built a decent gaming rig for a buddy of mine with that exact CPU and it's actually pretty fast. Was very surprised. (3.2ghz was about the limit without gettin' too crazy with voltage adjustments and whatnot.)

But like br3nd064 said, wouldn't the 3.1 ghz be better for overclocking?

It may depend on your intended use and the rest of your components. Although there is a difference between 3.0ghz and 3.1ghz my eyeballs cannot see the difference.

I have a dell dimension e521 w/am2 socket and also have a 700w power supply would either of these chips be good to use to replace my AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0?

P.S im also on a Nforce 430 chipset.
