Greetings, I would appreciate your suggestions and comments about upgrading my motherboard, video card and memory. I am no longer interested in SLI/CF, so a motherboard that will support one Radeon HD 4870, or one HD 4870 X2 will suffice. Is the 4870 X2 overkill for my system? This PC is used strictly for gaming, mostly FPS.

There is a contradiction between what you're saying about not wanting CF or SLI and the list you post saying that GPU will be 2 8800 in SLI, which one is going to be ?

Anyways if you go with a single card solution and don't require SLI, I would change my MB for something with an Intel chipset, much more hassle free and stable. A P45 MB would complement what you already have nicely. There's a bunch of P45 models that offer an extensive plethora of options, just got to pick one that suits your need.
