Graphics problem- monitor not responding!!

My friend has a 2 year old HP media pc (amd platform) and had a geforce 7200 video card in it. However, it burned out so i gave him my old 6800 gs. That was 2 months ago, just a few days ago his monitor wouldnt respond. The monitor seems to be off or in hibernation mode and there is no display. I figured my 6800 burned out but when we got another card (new 9800) it didnt fix the problem. Any ideas? Could it be that the PCI-E slot burned out? Any tips would be appreciated

Possibly it could be the motherboard, but yet you say the computer is only 2 years old ,so it may be the monitor.
