I am from Italy and would like to subscribe to a couple of reviews of video
( treating particularly plasma monitors ) from US.
Can somebody give me the names of the best magazines on this subject in USA
?

WIDESCREEN REVIEW also is excellent, but is very USA-centric, with
virtually no coverage of displays for PAL, the prevailing standard in
Europe.
IMO plasma is a good choice for Euro/PAL videophiles. Plasma displays
'hold' the image info a bit longer (considered a disadvantage for NTSC
and 60hz HDTV), eliminating the strobe-like flicker associated with
standard PAL displays and avoiding the artifacts which 100hz PAL TVs
produce (I saw these in Milan [Sony Store at Emporio Armani] back in
early July).

Just now, my advice to anyone in America or Europe is if you have a TV
you're reasonably pleased with at present don't get another one for at
least two or three years. By then there will be better/more and likely
at lower prices.
The two magazines I suggested are both excellent to keep up with new
developments.

If you're interested in free OTA DTV reception in the US, go ahead
and buy now, but make sure your OTA tuner is a 5th-gen model that deals
with ghosting (multipath) better than previous DTV tuners.

Try Robb Reports' "Home Entertainment" and their new "Digital TV". Both
are excellent!
